I started planning what to do during my weekend when I was on the train home. Unexpected, as usual, the train ran late again. The one who sit next to me was an overstaffed lump, middle-aged, who was lying back in the seat staring at the ceiling with a pair of dim eyes with slightly twitching lid. He was on the edge of falling asleep. I could sure that guy was not able to be talked to at that moment, so I stared reading the magazine which I was taking home, planed to be the material of my new DIY trash bin, though I was sure it would soon become rubbish itself after a couple of days or maybe latter, but there must be such a day.
The pages slipping between my fingers as I see the gorgeous advertisement of some watches and digital products, extra big broccoli with a big title Low-Carb Really Can be Heart Healthy, the big name of Bush, the cool technologies, list of best sales books etc. I wonder what the pages would ‘think’ which with big names on. I know ‘think’ is a strange words for the pages, they could never think, the one who think is the readers, the people who read the pages and deal with the pages.
The man had been fell asleep, I could hear the noise which coming out from his mouth mixing the thunder of the wheels of the running train. I gave him a glance, wildly opened mouth with dry lips and tainted teeth, coffee, probably, that made the blot. I felt I could see a word on his face, obviously, ‘tired’. I started to think, ‘What makes a middle-aged man so tired? His job? Probably. What is a job for? Money. What is money for? A happy life. And what dose a job lead? An unhappy and tired life.’ A weird circle isn’t it. So I stopped thinking and jump out of this meaningless slot.
Each one want to fetch the magazine when it’s new, it’s hot, it’s the latest vol. It might be read over and over again until the next vol. comes. What can a magazine do when it’s not attractive anymore? Nothing. What would happen when this situation encountered a man? He would have to work harder and harder, and get TIRED.
In the magazinlised world, each thing has its sell-by date.
